System of lightweight shoring boxes

The lightweight shoring box system is designed to ensure maximum safety and protect the health of workers in excavations.

The main advantages of the PBX1 and PBX2 shoring boxes are their low weight, compactness, and ease of handling. No heavy equipment is required to assemble and install the shoring boxes in the excavation. This saves you time and money while ensuring the required level of workplace safety.

According to Czech legislation, all excavations in built-up areas deeper than 1.3 m or excavations outside built-up areas deeper than 1.5 m must be shored.

By shoring excavations with our shoring boxes, you will avoid workplace safety issues during OHS inspections.

  • The lightweight shoring box consists of two independent shoring walls connected by adjustable metal struts.
  • Structurally, the shoring box consists of a galvanized steel frame into which 40 mm thick timber planks are inserted.
  • With a base plate height of up to 1.80 m, this shoring system can be used to perform any work on utility networks.
  • The shoring boxes can be assembled and disassembled manually or using a crane or excavator.

Safety walkways

Safety walkways over excavations (so-called excavation walkways) are essential for the safe movement of pedestrians across construction excavations and trenches.
Excavation walkways must meet strict safety standards regarding load-bearing capacity, slip resistance, and fall protection.
The walkway must be equipped with steel guardrails on both sides

We offer two basic types of walkways, namely:

  • 800mm x 2000mm safety walkway with safety guardrails
  • 1000 mm x 2500 mm safety walkway with safety railings

Our safety walkways are designed to meet occupational safety and health (OSH) requirements, including protection against falling into excavations.

Design, assembly, and installation in a trench

There are essentially several methods that can be used when installing a lightweight shoring box, namely:

a) Manually inserting the box, for example using ropes attached at both ends, into a pre-dug section of the trench to its full depth by sliding it in from the reinforced edge of the trench on both sides. The movement of the boxes is then secured using spacers at the highest point of the box. This ensures the safety of workers, who subsequently install spacers at other possible locations from the bottom of the trench.

b) Similarly, the boxes can be installed in the same manner using mechanical lifting equipment, such as a crane or excavator.

c) When installing into a pre-dug trench of specific dimensions, the box assembly can be prepared outside the trench by connecting both walls of the boxes with spacers at a minimum of four points and then lowering the entire assembly into the trench using mechanical lifting equipment, such as a crane or excavator. Lifting eyes at both ends of the box are provided for this purpose.

Dismantling can be performed in the reverse order of installation.
